Winter Weddings… and a few Portraits

We hope you all had a lovely Christmas and a good start to 2012! So we thought it was about time we posted some more images onto the Blog. We start with some portrait sessions on location and inside the Studio.

We photographed some beautiful Winter Weddings in 2011. With unpredictable weather there were lots of opportunities for using natural light indoors and with the shorter days Phil was able to play with artificial lighting.

Merry Christmas!

Just before everyone dives in to their Mince Pies and Christmas Pud, we thought we’d post our final Blog of this year. It’s been a very busy year for Lensmonkey and we’d like to thank all of our wedding clients for giving us the opportunity to be a small part of their special day. But it’s not over yet as we’ve still got three weddings to photograph before Christmas! Below is a selection of images from weddings over the last few months. . .

We start with Caron and Andy who were married in the beautiful surroundings of Canada Lodge.

Darragh and Neha had a two day wedding which included an Indian Ceremony in Cardiff and a Civil Ceremony at The St. David’s Hotel and Spa.

Lucas and Izabela held a historically themed wedding at St. Audries park, with horses to boot!

Richard & Helen held their ceremony and reception at the unique Priston Mill, where the Autumn colours were stunning.

Down on the farm

It’s always nice to photograph in a venue you’ve never been to before and Rosedew farm was no exception. When I first met Brian and Kirsty and they told me they were having their reception in a barn on a farm, I was excited at all the possibilities for the photos, but at the same time a little apprehensive as to the limitations for a Bride in her beautiful white dress! When we met up for the recce, Brian and Kirsty also mentioned that they would love some shots at the cliff edge a ¼ of a mile away down a dirt track and through a field. It was at that point I knew this wasn’t going to be an ordinary shoot. On the day, the rain held off long enough for us to get some shots of the happy couple in the field by their marquee, messing around on hay bale.

If the weather was good we had planned to go to the cliff edge after the speeches. During the speeches the heavens opened but this didn’t stop Kirsty and Brian. Wellies on foot and brolly in hand we made our way along the dirt track and through the field.

The light and location were fantastic and the result was some gorgeous pictures from the day, from a more unusual wedding location.

Kirsty and Brian held their wedding reception at Rosedew Farm in Llantwit Major, in the Vale of Glamorgan.

We have had the privilege of working in some amazing venues across the UK and when it comes to weddings, location is everything! Below are examples of weddings in some of our favourite places. St David’s Hotel and Spa in Cardiff is a five star location. Phil loves to take shots of couples in their Master Suite, the natural light is superb in the rooms and the view from the balcony is stunning.

Lindsey and Chris chose to add an extra location to their wedding day by stopping off at Penarth Pier on the way to St. David’s.

Laura and Lloyd held their wedding reception at the Celtic Manor Resort near Newport. Everytime Phil goes there he comes back wanting to take up golf!

Amelia and Simon had an intimate ceremony and reception at the De Courcey’s Manor near Cardiff, with the gardens providing a lovely backdrop to their shots.

Clearwell Castle in The Forest of Dean has it all! Amazing grounds, gardens and plently of space inside, with gorgeous natural light streaming through the windows.

St. Audries Park in Somerset is another outstanding venue. Couples are spoilt for choice when it comes to locations. Matt and Stacey were great fun to work with. Their relaxed nature really comes across in these pictures. They were even up for a wander in a field towards the end of the day.

Paul & Victoria, St. Audries Park

Phil has been lucky enough to photograph in some amazing venues, and St. Audries Park is certainly up there! Paul and Victoria got married back at the start of June. Wedding Photography is all about taking a snapshot into people’s lives and reflecting the mood of their special day. They were great fun and their day was made complete with a beautiful sunset!

We will be updating our Blog a little more frequetly than in the past, so look out for more pics soon!

White Weddings!

The snow that fell before Christmas certainly caused a few problems, but it did provide a fantastic winter backdrop to a couple of Weddings we photographed. At the start of December Ruth and Ian braved the snow in their Wellington Boots at Canada Lodge, just outside Cardiff.

The grounds of Llansantffraed Court provided an amazing backdrop for John & Sonia.

The snow was back with avengance for Chad and Johanna’s big day at Amberley Castle in West Sussex. It was a beautiful day with a setting to match.

Finally, one of our images is featured in an Ad in the recent edition of WM magazine. Huw Rees designed this gorgeous dress for Lowri Morgan-Jones.

It’s been a busy Summer!

Sorry it’s been a while! We’ve had a very busy Summer with plenty to keep us occupied! Phil has been photographing Weddings rain and shine and the Studio has been busier than ever with Portraits. Also, we’re now on Twitter!!

Here’s Rhys and Eggsy from Goldie Lookin Chain. On location in Newport for a Ryder Cup documentary Phil was filming.

Next we have some portraits of Cardiff and Swansea City Footballers. These images were used on the BBC as part of the television build up to the Cardiff City and Swansea City derby.
